Global Trade Negotiations: Carving Space for the Small and Vulnerable

Priorities for 2014

Looking ahead, the Region will continue the negotiation of an enhanced trade agreement with Canada. The priorities under this negotiation process include the creation of an agreement that will:
  • preserve, build on and broaden the scope of the current instruments of trade and economic co-operation;
  • deepen disciplines to improve market access for CARICOM exports of goods and services;
  • stimulate increased flows of Canadian investment into the Region;
  • and provide a comprehensive framework for development co-operation initiatives.
